Well, here we are in a brand new year although to be technically correct, we have merely changed a calendar page. As far as I know, there is not a start-finish line on the Earth's orbit. It's all pretty arbitrary.

I had to get a new calendar. In fact, I now have one with old cars. I think the calendar is new, but one never knows.

Fred Reed wrote in his January 1 column that he is a bit upset that our esteemed leaders have little connection to the real world.

Unfortunately, his column reminded me of why I chose to vote for Jimmy Carter in 1976. I figured that a small town Georgia boy understood the world and that some people just weren't nice and needed to be dropped through a hole in the floor at the end of a too short rope. I didn't realize the Carters owned Plains. Having spent a few days in a family owned Georgia town, I am pretty sure that the Carter boy didn't get the crap beat out of himself too often.

That explains a lot.

The only thing I had against Gerald Ford in 1976 was the Mayaguez Incident, but since about 1978, I have blamed him for making Jimmy Carter President.

Oh and that WIN button thing.
