A rough morning at the filling station. I think I'll need to stop by the bank and see about a second mortgage soon. Of course, through superior driving skills, I am managing almost 20 mpg from a 4.7 liter V8 pickup--around town. Tuesday, April 18, 2006
I have discovered that I am apparently too old for hard physical work. I tried to be Terry Oglesby over the weekend and now I am having trouble moving. I am building a walkway and retaining wall in our backyard in a probably vain attempt to control the water runoff from the subdivision being built where the kudzu used to be. I guess I should rename the Blog, maybe something like "Water World" or has that been taken? "Red Clay Acres"? Anyway, all that lifting of heavy blocks, shoveling of sand and clay, and kneeling about wore me out. The guitar playing is coming along. I now have about 50% of "Black Mountain Rag" down and am working on my speed. I don't think Lee appreciates all my practice though. My first clue was when she started closing off doors between us. We are still waiting on the contracts to be awarded. The government certainly moves slowly. |
