1) In the field of television, what job would you most want and why? This includes entertainment, news and sports. Dang it. I was going to say that wanted to be the guy who installs the power supplies but then I figured out that Terry is probably talking about entertainment not the manufacturing. I have never had any desire to be on television but I guess if I worked there, I would want to the director of special news programs. I have known a couple of people who did that and they got to see interesting things, plus they weren't the idiot standing out in the rain reporting that: "Yes, it is raining here where I am standing".

2) If you had to make a living performing live--that’s right, live on stage--what would you want to do? Play guitar and sing harmony in a country group along the line of the Statlers or Oaks. The question is what I would want to do, not what I can do.

3) If you worked in the movies, what job would you most want and why? Stunt driver in the high speed chases but high enough up the food chain to have a fill-in for the crashes. I just like to drive fast and crashing has never been an ambition of mine.

We worked all night on the proposal or at least the editor did. I worked until eleven last night and came in at seven this morning to read through the "final". We printed several hundred high quality color pages at one o'clock and at two, the government put out an amendment delaying the submission date until the 27th. The reason for the delay is advantageous to us but it would have been nice if the government had been a little more on the ball. Oh, wee, two moere weeks to tweak our submission.

Have I mentioned how much I dislike writing proposals?

Here I am working on White European Male Oppressing Day or some such and me being almost Cherokee. Well, about 1/8th anyway. I really should have gotten the day off in celebration of something. This is from comments at Possumblog:

From Jim Smith:
Larry—will this get you or just Ward Churchill? Cherokees begin membership audit to cull non-Indians
Can you prove the Cherokee heritage sufficiently to get the gambling money? That might ease the retirement plan. Posted by jim at October 10, 2005 12:02 PM

Jim,
We don't even try to prove anything on the Cherokee thing. What I understand is the Dawes Roll is the controlling document and my ancestors having evaded the US Army in the 1830s weren't about to put their names on any government list only 70 years later.
My Great-Great Grandfather Anderson had to pay an "inter-marriage" bond of $250 to marry my G-G Grandma. That's the only "official" thing we have.

My Dad and one of his Sisters were quite brown though.

It would be amusing if not so sad all the carping about oppressed people in this country. My kids have Cherokee, Oto (a crossword answer for a tribe in Missouri), English, German, Irish, Scots and who knows what else ancestors. They just happen to have blond hair and blue eyes.

My brother's son has my Dad's black hair and dark brown eyes and my first cousin's kids have green eyes and red hair. They all are at least 1/16th Cherokee with a smattering of Oto.
