1) What one language would you most like to learn to speak, or at least understand? English? Greek for the same reason Terry has. I really would like to read the Bible in Greek.
2) What one skill would you most like to learn? I would really like to play the guitar really well.
3) What one character flaw would you most like to rid yourself of? Procrastination! If I didn't put everything off until tomorrow, I would be reading Greek and playing the guitar the way I wish to.

Well that was certainly fun. we finished a proposal on Friday morning, FedExed it and came in Saturday to work on the next one to find that the one we just shipped has been delayed for two weeks. The good news is the delay is because of an appeal filed to the Small Business Agency was upheld. The bad news is we have to redo some stuff while we work on the next proposal.
I have been doing some math, arithmetic actually, on the proposed Katrina recovery money from the Feds. $200 billion! Let me write that out: $200,000,000,000.00 That is a big number. In fact it is about $650 for every man, woman and child in the country.
If we divide it by the number of displaced persons (about 1,000,000, I really don't feel up to complicated arithmetic this morning) it comes out to $200,000 per person. My solution is to give the people half that, declared them rich, tax 40% of it back and save $140 billion.
Am I missing something here?
Several years back, I added up the money in poverty relief at all levels of government and it came to $35,000 per person the government said was living below the poverty line. If you gave a family of four the $35,000 per person, it would place them well into the "rich" category and we could feel good about taking 40-50% back from them. Of course, there would be a lot of "social" "workers" out of a job, but we can make them rich next year.
